Vilas adores the efforts that many conservationists are putting in to save the tiger, and on his part tries to contribute whatever little he can with the firm belief that it is better to light a single candle than to sit despondently in the dark. For it is the sheer apathy and passivity of the common citizen towards depleting tiger numbers that is enough to push the magnificent species toward extinction.
